The NurembergFiles
The trial of the Nazi leadership, episode by episode. Original sound from the courtroom, both sides with their role, every statement with its source.

What this is
We do not pass judgment ourselves. We show what the file says, and tell you where it says it.
FUNDSTELLE is a history channel. Every statement in a video carries its source on screen: volume and page of the transcript, reference of the recording. On this site every episode has the full list, so you can look it up.

Justice or revenge?
The prosecution says: a court instead of revenge. All defence counsel say: a law made only after the act, and judges only from the victorious states. We show both, with role and source.
- 01
Original sound
The voices from the courtroom, denoised, otherwise unchanged. The narrator only speaks in the gaps, never over an original voice.
- 02
Both sides
Prosecutors, defendants, defence counsel, court: every statement with name and role. The same standard for all.
- 03
Source on screen
Volume, page, reference are in the video. Here is the full list with the wording of the source.
Cell block of the Nuremberg jail, 24 Nov 1945, US Army Signal Corps, NARA 292605
Method
Red, blue, grey, open
Every statement gets a colour. Not by opinion, but by what a document says word for word.
-
documentedDocumented
A document says it word for word. Quote checked against the page, then two AI reviewers.
Example
Motion of all defence counsel, 19 Nov 1945: a penal law enacted only after the crime.
-
theoryTheory
An assessment by the editors, not a statement of fact. Evidence for and against, counter-theory, range. Above 90 % only with a document, and then it is red.
Example
“Fichte’s Addresses to the German Nation were an intellectual root of Pan-Germanism.”
For: prosecutor de Menthon (IMT Vol. 5, p. 377); against: defence counsel Stahmer (Vol. 17, p. 499). Chapter in preparation.
-
does not holdDoes not hold
A common claim, checked, evidence against it. It stays visible, with its origin.
Example
“The Lusitania was armed with guns.”
Panel of three reviewers, unanimously grey. Chapter in preparation.
-
openOpen
Not yet checked or not checkable. Never looks like red. Checked later or removed.
Example
Shown on every source page where a check is missing.
No result is not a pass.

Both sides
„Four great nations stay the hand of vengeance.“
„The judges were appointed exclusively by states of one party in this war.“
What do you think? Episode 1 shows both in the original. Episode 01
Sound recording in the courtroom, US Army Signal Corps, NARA 292602

Same standard
Prosecution and defendants, victors and defeated: every statement is checked the same way and named with its role.
No agenda
We represent no party and no reading. What we cannot document, we do not state as fact.
Documented crimes
What is documented will not be relativised, played down or called into question.
Open corrections
Mistakes happen. Every correction is listed with its date on the corrections page, never silently replaced.
AI disclosed
The narrator voice is partly AI-generated and labelled as such. Original sound stays original.
